Vision boards are more than just pretty collages—they're powerful tools for manifesting goals and staying motivated throughout the year. This year, I’m taking a different approach to my vision board, and I’m excited to share the process with you.
Going Digital: Vision Board 2.0
Instead of the traditional poster board, I’ve decided to create my vision board digitally using Canva. Why? Because I can set it as the background for my computer and phone—ensuring I see it daily. Here’s how I’ve done it:
Start with Canva’s Presentation Mode
Canva’s Presentation Mode is ideal because its dimensions (1920x1080 pixels) perfectly fit most computer screens. This gives me plenty of space to design while ensuring the final product looks great as a desktop or laptop background.Keep It Personal
While I’m happy to share the process, I’ve chosen to keep my actual vision board private. Your vision board should reflect your personal dreams and goals, so don’t feel pressured to share it with anyone unless you want to.
Choosing a Word of the Year
This year, my word is “daydream.” It’s a reminder to embrace creativity and envision the possibilities life offers. My inspiration? A song by Lily Meola called Daydream, which my husband introduced me to. If you haven’t heard it, I highly recommend it—it’s a beautiful piece that captures the essence of dreaming big.
Adding Visuals to Your Vision Board
Here’s where the fun begins! For my board:
I’ve chosen to spell out my word of the year, “daydream,” with letters filled with images that inspire me. This adds a creative twist and makes the word visually pop.
To enhance the design, I’ve added borders around the letters and positioned additional images behind them for a collage effect. This technique makes the board feel cohesive and visually dynamic.
Incorporating Goals and Dreams
A vision board isn’t complete without specific goals. For instance, I’ve always dreamed of seeing a volcano erupt in Hawaii. That’s now front and center on my board. Another long-time dream is visiting Guam, a destination that’s been on my bucket list for years. Adding these visual representations of my goals helps bring them to life.
Make It Your Own
Whether you go digital like me or stick with traditional materials, the key is to make your vision board reflect your personality and aspirations. Arrange your images, words, and designs in a way that resonates with you—there’s no right or wrong way to do it.
Final Thoughts
A vision board is more than just an art project—it’s a daily reminder of what you’re working toward. By placing it in a spot you see often, like your computer or phone background, it becomes a part of your everyday life, gently nudging you to keep dreaming and achieving.
